Cornel Gabara has performed world-wide in international festivals including the Edinburgh International Festival, the Paris Festival D'ete, the Sao Paolo Biennale, Wiener Festwochen: Vienna, Holland Festival: Amsterdam, the Ruhr Triennale, the Roma Europa Festival, the Forum Barcelona and many others. Roles of note include performing and touring in Andrei Serban's Fragments of a Greek Trilogy, the role of Eurystheus in Peter Sellar's Children of Herakles and the lead role in the remount of Robert Wilson's Hamletmachine at the National Theatre of Bucharest. North American credits include performing at A.R.T., The McCarter Theatre, the New York Metropolitan Opera (as Pantalone in Serban’s Benvenuto Cellini) and extensive performances at La Mama ETC which include performing in Serban’s Richard III and Nikolaus Wolcz’s Turandot.

He is the Artistic Director and a founding member of the Glacity Theatre Collective in Toledo, Ohio, where he has directed the majority of the company's productions including Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Breathing Corpses, Eurydice, All's Well that Ends Well and Waiting for Godot. He is also Head of Acting at the University of Toledo. His students have gone on to perform with Madcap puppets, Public Awareness Theatre, the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival as well as in commercials, voice overs, Indy films and HBO. They have been accepted to MFA programs including the New School for Drama and CalArts. Gabara has an MFA in Acting from Columbia University School of the Arts (NY) and a BFA in theatre from Concordia University (Montreal). He was an actor/musician at the National Theatre of Bucharest from 1988 to 1993 and is a member of AEA and AGMA.
